How I Can Help

Individual Therapy

Therapy with me can be a tool for prevention, early intervention, harm reduction*, or part of an aftercare plan following more intensive treatment.

*Harm reduction is a relatively new and frequently used term in addiction treatment. I use it to refer to the goals that are important to you at this time and the measurable steps, or objectives, towards achieving them. There are tangible improvements to both the quality and longevity of life with reduced substance use.

Examples of non-abstinence-based treatment goals: strengthen family relationships, be a better student, stabilize mental health, improve physical health

Examples of measurable objectives: reduce quantity, potency, or frequency of substance use; stop using some substances; take medications as prescribed

Integrated Care

Therapy with me complements and enhances other treatments.

I can coordinate care and facilitate effective communication with recovery coaches, psychiatrists, medical providers, employers, family members, and other important people or institutions in your life.

I am familiar with the addiction treatment landscape of 12-step programs, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), detox, rehab, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).

I have a strong and growing network of colleagues in other areas of expertise (e.g., Couples Therapy, Psychological Testing, EMDR, Nutrition).
